Amylase- Amylase is an enzyme that helps digest carbohydrates and is found in human saliva and some other mamals' saliva. Amylase begins the chemical process of digestion. Amylase is also produced in the pancreas.

Autotroph- This plant is an autotroph that produces complex organic compounds from simple substances present in its surroundings. This plant uses the process photosynthesis to make nutrients for itself out of sunlight.
Eubacteria- Microscopic prokaryotic cells are known as "true bacteria" most bacteria isn't dangerous except for a few types such as E.Coli. Yogurt is made from milk and eubacteria in a controlled environment causing the milk to ferment. The same process is how cheese is made. Eubacteria is often what causes strep throat and food poisoning.
Dicot plant with flower and leaf- A dicot is a plant whose seed typically has two embryonic leaves or cotyledons. The veins in the plants look like networks. These flowers have five petals making them a dicot flower/plant.
Flower Ovary- The ovary is the female reproductive organ of the flower. The ovary can be found just below the style of the flower. Fruit is also the ripened ovary of flowers. The ovary is part of the pistil.
Long-day plant- A long day plant is a plant that flowers after being exposed to sunlight for periods longer than a certain critical length. This mostly occurs in the summer with flowering wild flowers and vegetables. This is a picture of kale from my garden.
Heartwood- The central wood in a branch or limb is usually darker in color and more resistant to decay compared to sapwood. It is harder as a result of the deposition of chemical substances. Heartwood is primarily used for support of the tree or branch because it is denser than other parts of the tree.

Connective tissue is fibrous and consists of cells held in an extracellular matrix that they produce. It can be throughout the body, and makes up a great portion of the skeletal system.  Connective tissue is useful for the protection of organs, energy storage, structural framework, and here comes a shocker, connection of tissues in the body. It makes up many physical structures including tendons, ligaments around joints, cartilage, bone.

Cuticle Layer of a Plant- The cuticle layer is the outermost protective film covering the epidermis of leaves, young shoots and other plant organs. The cuticle consists of lipids and hydrocarbon polymers impregnated with wax, causing water drops to bead on their surface.

Gymnosperm Cone- Gymnosperm cones come from gymnosperm plants which are seed producing plants. Their seeds are not enclosed in contrast to those seeds of a flower enclosed in an ovary. Female cones produce seeds, while male cones produce pollen. Male cones are higher up on the tree, fertilizing the female cones containing the seeds further down the tree, releasing the seeds.
Conifer leaf- (Pinophyta) This type of tree does not have too may types of variations, but conifers have a large ecological importance. Pinophytes are gymnosperms, cone bearing seed plants with vascular tissue. The division contains approximately 8 families.
Lichen- Lichen is a composite organism consisting of a fungus and a photosynthetic partner growing together in a symbiotic relationship. (the photobiont or the phycobiont) Lichen can be found in some of the most extreme living conditions. (Arctic tundra, rocky coasts and deserts)
Eukaryote- This eukaryote's name is Kitkat. A eukaryote is any organism whose fundamental structural cells contains specialized organelles in the cytoplasm, membrane-bound nucleus enclosing genetic information in the form of chromosomes.
Keratin- Keratin is the key structural component of human skin, hair and nails. Keratin monomers assemble in to bundles to form intermediate filaments which are tough and insoluble and forms tough tissues.
Modified stem of a plant- this plant can also be considered a tendril, because it is a climbing plant that grows climbing up the siding of my deck.
Modified leaf of plant- this is a cactus, and the reason it has modified its leaves into spines, is because cacti are native to the desert and the reduction of leaf surface prevents water loss and protects itself from predators.

fruit- dry with seed. These nuts (almond and walnut) are actually the seed of a fruit. They are however edible.  Walnuts come in a much bigger shell. The shell does not release the seed.
Fruit- fleshy with seed- This is obviously a picture of an apple. When you consume a fleshy fruit, you are eating the flesh, not the seeds. Fleshy fruits are those that derive from a single ovary from the flowering area of a plant.
Pollen- In this picture the pollen is the yellow/light green powder on my hands. Pollen is the plants way of reproducing. It is a very fine course powder that produces male gametes. If pollen lands on a compatible female cone (pistil) it will germinate. Pollen in plants is used for transferring haploid male genetic material from an anther of a flower to the stigma of another.
Thorn of a plant- A thorn is a modified branch and part of a shoot system that has been modified. The stems only grow for limited amounts of time and the leaves are reduced and die quickly. Thorns offer protection from herbivores.
Insects are invertebrates with three part bodies, an exoskeleton and three pairs of jointed legs. Insects have compound eyes and one pair of antennae. This is a picture of a beetle on a basil leaf.

Tendril of plant- The tendril of a plant is a specialized stem with a threadlike shape that is used by climbing plants for support and attachment to other plants.
Animal with Segmented Body- This is a picture of an ant, but it kind of blends in with the background of the picture. An ant's body is segmented in three parts. The head, thorax and abdomen.
Stem- Woddy- Woody stems are the stems of plants that have been growing for more than 2 years. The main stem and roots are covered in bark. Woody stems frow year after year.
Stem- Herbaceous- A herbaceous stem is part of a herbaceous plant that die down at the end of the growing season to the soil level. Parts of the plant survive underground and grow again every year.
